|Derek is a senior planner and project manager working for the consulting firm Parametrix, in Portland. Derek has served on the numerous Boards of Directors and task forces, is an adjunct professor at Washington State University, and is the immediate past Chair of the Vancouver Planning Commission. His current assignments include managing the consultant environment team for the $3.6 Billion Columbia River Crossing, a multi-modal transportation improvement project between Vancouver and Portland. Also in 2012 he has led an assessment of shoreline ecosystems for Camas Washington, a sustainable development framework for Ashland Oregon, and served as an urban planning researcher and trainer in Beijing.|

(MFA) is an integrated multidisciplinary professional services organization consulting in the areas of environmental science, engineering, planning, landscape architecture, GIS, and sustainability. MFA provides services to a diverse client base that includes private business and industry, ports, municipalities, and Native American tribes. MFA is a locally owned Pacific Northwest consulting firm established in Vancouver, Washington by Jim Maul, Tom Foster, and Neil Alongi. Since inception in 1996, MFA has grown from four employees to 60 employees today with offices in Portland, Oregon and in Vancouver, Seattle, and Bellingham, Washington; and Kellogg, Idaho.|
Established in 1983, the Chinese Academy of Urban Planning and Design (CAUPD) is a scientific research institution under the Ministry of Construction of China. The Academy has been qualified in the National Class A in relevant professional fields of urban planning and design, civil engineering and design, and engineering Constancy.
With over 550 employees, the Academy has completed 105 projects in urban scientific research and national professional norms and standards development (CAUPD is the administrative organization for national professional norms and codes); as well as 1,047 projects in urban planning, design and consulting services, including municipal system plans, city master plans, district plans, a variety of detailed plans, urban transportation plans, landscape plans, historical preservation plans, old town renovation plans, architectural design, and civil engineering design.
Beijing Tsinghua Urban Planning and Design Institute was founded in 1993 and registered in 2000. The Institute has developed into 30 departments with more than 600 employees.
