EPIC-N | Trainers to Conduct Workshop in South Africa

On November 18th and 19th, EPIC-N trainers will be traveling to Cape Town, South Africa to lead a training workshop for up to 20 pairs of universities and communities from countries throughout sub-Saharan Africa.  This work is an effort to adopt and adapt the EPIC Framework to an expanded set of institutional and community contexts around the U.S. and the world.  The South African workshop builds on the first international training in May 2017 and is part of a new approach to engage in multi-year regional efforts to help launch new programs, train local trainers, and develop regional EPIC networks that take on future responsibility of launching new programs and continuously improving the quality of existing ones.

The workshop is being coordinated in conjunction with FRACTAL members (Future Resilience for African Cities And Lands) and is co-sponsored by the United Nations, the National Science Foundation, the International City Managers Association (ICMA), and the Environmental Protection Agency.  SCI Co-Directors Marc Schlossberg and Nico Larco, past SCYP-Springfield city partner coordinator Courtney Griesel, and San Diego State's Sage Project Director Jessica Barlow will be the primary workshop leaders.
