SCI Co-Director Nico Larco published an article titled "Sustainable Urban Design - A (Draft) Framework" in the Journal of Urban Design. This paper provides a road map for urban designers and researchers to understand the elements of sustainable urban design and how they are related. The article organizes these elements by overall theme and scale of project in order to identify areas of synergy among these disparate aspects.

The article was published along with commentaries/discussions by Jonathan Barnett, Matthew Carmona, Ajay Garde, Tigran Haas, Scot Hein, Elizabeth Macdonald, Frederick Steiner, and Stephen Wheeler.

This work is now being expanded into a book to be published by Routledge in 2017.
